You may request a book or other library item if it is checked out or on the shelf.

  • If the item is checked out, when the item is returned, it will be held for you. You will receive an email notification that the item is available to pick up at Room 213 in the University Library.
  • If the item is available for checkout upon request, library staff will locate it and place it on the hold shelf (Room 213 at the University Library) under your name in the next 1-3 business days. You will receive an email notification when the item is ready to check out.

Holds are made for materials in the General Collection, Video Recordings, General Education, Special Collection, and Oversize Collection.

A user may request a maximum of 5 items at a time.

An item with a hold will accrue overdue fines according to the established rate if not returned by the latest due date. Materials are held for 3 days after being placed on the hold shelf.

NOTE:

  1. If someone requested the same item before you did, you will be in a queue.
  2. If you have an item checked out and another patron places a hold on it, you cannot renew the item.
