The library and users process the requested items in the following stages:

Stage 1:  If you have found the book in our catalog but have yet to see it at the library. You can request the book on the library website. For details, please refer to I can't find the book on the shelves.

Stage 2:  After receiving the request, the library will check its status.

  • If its status is On Loan to Somebody, it will be held for you when the item is returned. You will receive an email notification that the item can be picked up at the Intelligent Hold Shelf in the University Library.
  • If its status is Available at Main Library, library staff will locate the item within 1-3 business days.
    • Once we find the book, it will be placed in the intelligent hold shelf (next to Ask Us). You will receive an email notification telling you the book is ready for pick-up.
    • If we can't find the book, you will receive an email notification telling you the request has been canceled.

Stage 3:  After you receive the notification mail.

  • You have 3 business days to pick up the requested item after receiving a "REMINDER - Requested Item Ready" email.
  • Click 'book pickup' on the panel and swipe your campus card on the reader.
  • The page will display the information on the requested books. Follow the instructions to collect your requested book(s).
  • Close the door after taking the book(s) out, and the requested book will be automatically borrowed to your account.
  • If you requested a DVD, please go to Ask Us to pick it up and borrow it during workday Office Hours (Mon-Fri @ 8:30 - 12:00 & 13:30 - 17:30).
